Living up to expectations.
Jun. 7th, 2002 02:50 pmMac and Tov bought this livejournal code for me. They thought I would enjoy it, and fools that they are, they thought that they could read it catch a hint or two about what I am up to.
Valid points I'm sure, but I didn't really see why they had to pick out the username for me. I'm not secretive! I'm the open book of the decade! Maybe even the century!
I swear that the thought of not telling them my user name didn't occur to me until after they explained their devious little plot to keep tabs on me. (I think that they forgot that I have codes of my own now... I can hide from you any time I like. So there.)
And where exactly they came up with "joyouschild" was also a bit of a mystery. I checked- baalshem isn't taken... and it's not as though I didn't have enough "Are you talking to me?" identity issues before this, the latest in extraneous names was added.
But I've been "child" or "girl-child" since forever, and today, dancing around the office because it very well might rain and Bibi's back from Costa Rica and I'm going back to Oaxaca and just yay (you know?), I realized that damn you both to hell and back again, you're right. I am the joyous Child. (And that was one of the longest sentences ever.)
Kathy and Phil are there, and Mac's in Tuscon, and Moses is in Mexico and I'll get to see all of them on this jaunt. And (this is the real reason for the trip) I'll get to replace the magic bag that's falling apart. Could life be any more shiny? Really?
(Even with the threat of degenerative nerve disease over my head and the bleakness of knowing that Arthur Itis will be around to annoy me for the rest of my life.)
It fits, does this name, and I think that I'll keep it.
