I'm sorry that I was in such a grumpy mood yesterday. Mac slaped me upside the head with polonged trips to cool places that I am not invited to go on. I miss you when you're not here damnit. Summers is when we're all supposed to be together, and Tov is in Seatle and Angel is working like a mad woman (Mad! I tell you.) and I am alone.

Alone and Contingentless. Not a good way to be.

So I was cranky. But enough of that. Pffft. No more cranky for me.

As usual, I am the last to know when anything interesting happens.

Today I learned that I don't have to loose faith in the entire justice system, because the 9th circuit court ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional.

I have always had a problem with this bit of American dogma. (Despite the fact that it was written as a protest by a social activist, who didn't include God. God was added in 1954, 62 years after the Pledge was written.) I like the idea of "liberty and justice for all" but why we need to drag God into it is kinda beyond me.

Obviously, this mandandatory and public swearing to God is unconstitutional. Obviously, this decision will be overthrown by whoever is the next step. It will happen soon, but it's nice to know that in these times of flag-waving patriotism, not everyone is afraid to do what is right.

Thank you Michael Newdow, for standing up for what you believe in. Thank you to the justices Alfred Goodwin and Stephen Reinhardt, who reminded me today why I wanted to be a judge when I grew up. (Yes, this was before I decided not to grow up, like, ever.)
