aintbroke: (joyful)
I woke up this morning with the thought "I have to be at work in twenty minutes and I need to take a shower!" driving my morning panic attack. I had my shower, washed my hair, had breakfast, read the comics and walked out the door before I realized that I never go to work at 8. Never. Somehow, sometime, I shall conquer my dyslexia and learn to tell time. Maybe. Or, you know, not.

Because I was ready so early, I had time to chat with Emmet, who is "very-almost 6." He told me his plans for the day (most of which revolve around water balloons) and I realized that I could be quite happy living out the rest of my existence as an almost 6 year-old boy. I mean, he has a skate board! And rubber snakes. I don't ask much more from life. Rubber snakes and skateboards. And water balloons.

It's rather disturbing that all I need for happiness can be found at Toytown. (It's also odd that I still find this disturbing; we've known this about me for how long?)

In other news, last day of work. I shall file away my presence here. Really- my task of the day is put away all the files, books, articles and other research materials I've accumulated during the course of the summer. (The pathetic part of this is that it will, in fact, take all day.)

Off I go then. Clerking with the best of them.

Lunch today was snazzy. Is snazzy, as I'm having it now...

I drove home through the edge of a rain cloud. I know that Eskimos have hundreds of words for snow because they are perpetually surrounded by it, but I think we desert dwellers ought to come up with rain words. Thousands of different terms for all of our rain, and a word for the feeling that comes from driving out from underneath a raining cloud. And words for lack of rain. I mean other than "drought." Drought is a boring word.

Came home to Emmet giving "armpit farting" lessons to little sister person. God, we might yet save her from the stagnant conformity that she's getting sucked into. And, let the record state that Emmet is my new hero.
