(no subject)

I went through about five years of net involvement with one password and one ID. Everything I had; email, listservs, forum personas, Yahoo groups- all in one name with one password.

When I recently tried to sign up for Yahoo after deserting it for a few years- I was horrified to find that someone else has stumbled on to my random combination of letters. How is such a thing possible? Really.

Then I tried logging in to my name with my password, and wonder of wonders, it worked. Evidently I'd just forgotten that I signed myself up in the first place. That was possible with one name and one password. (And a fairly stupid little girl who forgets email addresses.)

Now however, I've got dozens. Dozens and none of them are remotely alike. This is probably good if someone tries to hack something, but I just spent ten minutes trying to figure out how to log into hotmail. I finally decided it wasn't worth the effort and gave up, but I have the niggling sensation that there was something important in there. (I know that Dari's link to Relay is in there, but it's probably in the "Ack" file too so I'm not so worried about that. There might be email I want in there, and the idea is driving me nuts.)

This is by way of a warning- email addresses will be cast aside in the next few weeks. So, if you email me, please kill off emails that are dead, and send love to the ones that are still alive and well.

Bolt is dead. May it rest in peace.
Hotmail is dead. May it rot in hell for all eternity.
Other funky emails are dead. Dead, dead, dead.
School email is brand shiny new and will be default email because I need it for classes.
Yahoo is Yahoo groups email, modding email, and plebe email and so I need that too (not the plebe part so much).

Two addresses are enough frankly. I'm back in school for the first time in a few years and there's this pesky little thing I like to call "homework," which eats up my time.
