(no subject)
Jun. 3rd, 2003 11:07 pmDeparture has been put off until tomorrow morning, because the man at the army-navy store was in the process of moving. (You'd think that this had little to do with our trip. You'd be wrong. Welcome to small town life.)
I went to the library(ies) today, and managed not to kill hours and hours. Because of my rushed visit, however, I have ended up with a pile of books half as tall as I am, none of which I can take with me backpacking. This makes me sad.
( What did the girl who has read everything check out of the library?: A summer reading list )
Not from the library, but beloved none the less, are my copies of Tyler's "American Childhood" and McPhee's "Briguarde de Cuisine." Creative non-fiction makes the world go 'round.
Also. My sister. (You know, the one who hated Harry Potter. Rabidly. Until she actually read a book, whereupon she became Potterite?) Is hosting a release party, where we will all troop downtown, get our books, and sit around with flashlights at the park and read them. My love for her grows exponentially every time she opens her mouth.
Alright, after subjecting you to the randomosity that is books, I'm leaving. Really this time. I'll be back in ten or twelve days, hopefully, one mountain the richer.
