Mar. 27th, 2005 10:08 pmSo this bookmaking class I’m taking. Before I even walk in the door I’m excited- these people turn out some amazing beautiful ways of conveying information. But, geez is it intimidating. The standard is so frikkin’ high!
I feel the same way about livejournal. The lot of you are so articulate and thoughtful and just generally brilliant. I’m always appreciative of your posts, but making them myself, is like, effort. I want to be brilliant and articulate too! And really, lets face facts: articulation isn’t very high on my list of virtues, and brilliance is always hit or miss.
Point being: Yesterday was my twenty-first birthday. The fuss was minimal. I’m not a drinker, for few reasons so the legality of my purely hypothetical imbibation isn’t really a concern. The big, traumatic part of turning twenty-one is that after twelve years, I’ve outgrown my battery of doctors, and finally have to progress from pediatric specialists to the adult versions. Finding doctors is a lot like shoe shopping, (In that it’s my least favorite way to spend time, ever.) but hopefully I’ll be done soon.
My family continued in the tradition of giving me things I didn’t really know I wanted, but are kind of awesome none-the-less. A ski-helmet! A hand-made-by-Megan backpack! A plane ticket to Peru! (Peru! Because, in their own words “It’s more fun than a car.” And it’s oh-so-true. A family trip to our old stomping ground will be more fun than maintaining on a car. Oh family mine, I don’t know how you do it, but every time I see you, you become more incredible.)
They also gave me an IOU for a digital camera. Here, I throw myself at your mercy. Do any of you have recommendations or horror stories to share? I'm a little paralyzed by the options available.
