Jan. 27th, 2008 08:17 amThis was the first week of classes, and it's only been a little bit traumatic.
Organic Chemistry is- ... Ok, I'm just going to say this, and you can judge me if you need to- kind of engaging. I'm interested, alright? GOD. Just- benzene. It's aromatic! And ring shaped! It has clouds of electron density and kind of looks like a donut! I'm also a little taken aback by the amount of work I'll need to do. (Why, yes, I have already spent more time studying for this class than I used to spent on some studio art classes.)
Evidently, my whole physics class will take place in a handy vacuum where no friction or air resistance exist. It looks kind of easy, but I haven't actually tried doing any problems yet.
In other news, I just spilled pickle juice on a tray of cookies. I am a huge fan of pickles, but I don't really think they're going to add much to my chocolate bar cookies. And I spent six hours at work yesterday- on my day off running tech for Galileo, (yes the stupid play by Brecht) so I'm going thank heaven this week is almost over and get back to drawing pictures of secbutylbenzene.
ETA: The best part of Organic Chemistry is that every time I get a concept, I feel like such a rockstar. I'm not joking- I throw my arms up and I have three seconds of totally winning at the universe- MOLECULAR ANTI BONDING ORBITALS OH HO HO! I WIN! I'm pretty sure this means that studying in public is a terrible idea, but whatever, benzene!
Plus, I just had a cream cheese and pickle sandwich on home made rye bread, and I only have to sit though five more performances of Galileo, so I take back everything. This week totally wins.
