Feb. 20th, 2008 05:21 pmI made a joke about empathizing with New Yorkers who have a constant stream of people coming to the city for a few days, but holy cow people, I've had non-stop weekend/midweek/randomly-showing-up-on-my-door-step, visitors every week for the past two months.
It's kind of awesome.
I mean, one of the best things about having space is being able to share it, and I really like being able to host people. It's giving me kind of an inferiority complex about how everyone I know is somehow doing awesome things whilst I am, you know, slogging over my Organic Chemistry, but it's fantastic to see people and hear their stories and if I can only be peripherally involved in interesting things, and least I'm still hanging out on the outskirts.
On a completely different note: I just got back my second organic chemistry test and - just, have you ever been horrified by your own sloppiness? Seriously, Cait-of-last-week. Seriously. On the upside, I've gotten exactly the grade I thought I deserved as I left both tests. I think this is kind of a good sign heading forward. (I hope it's a good sign. It will not be so handy if it helps me predict a fifty-two accurately.) I kind of panicked on my Physics test when I was using some horrible permutation of the quadratic formula to solve for two variables simultaneously (I know! I thought it was way too hard for the test too!) when I realized that the whole formula I was using was irrelevant, because the answer was zero. I could practically feel the cartoon blue birds of relief circling my brow, though I've spent the last week feeling pretty stupid about it.
Lastly, I don't know who among you posted Lupe Fiasco, but dang. Dang, I am enjoying it. Evidently Jamaica softened my hip-hop hating heart? Here are my two favorite songs: one is about child soldiers, video game violence and gun culture. The other one is about skateboarding.
Lupe Fiasco- Little Warrior
Lupe Fiasco- Kick Push
ETA: Of course, the only night in weeks that's cloudy would be the night that we've got a visible full lunar eclipse. Whatever, universe.
