(no subject)
Jun. 25th, 2008 03:55 pmI was looking forward to being done studying for the MCAT (oh, and I am, don't get me wrong) but I'm still in Study! GO! mode, and it doesn't feel that relaxing.
Whose bright idea was summer school, anyway? I mean, really. I've had daily classes before (Mmm, general chemistry, how little I miss you), but I feel like someone's turned a fire hose of information at me, and I'm overwhelmed at how much I have to absorb in a given day. Or in the case of Organic Chemistry lab, how much I simply have to write up.
Also, man. Physics. With very many subjects I can understand how someone else can find it compelling, no matter how mind numbing it seems to me. Anthropology! Computer programing! Political science! High level abstract math! These are all totally valid fields of study for people who are not me. I can converse about them intelligently enough, but that's about the edge of my caring. I have not yet managed to grasp the inherent interestingness of physics, even though it must, must be out there.
In other news, I just purchased a new cricket bat, and I'm kind of stoked to begin the knocking process. (Evidently, before actually using a bat, you must beat it with a mallet for six hours to, I don't know, properly season the wood. Ballet dancers do this to toe shoes, which somehow seems less strange.)
I feel my talking about my shiny new cricket equipment/actual involvement in cricket ratio is very, very skewed. But I find talking about cricket equipment (Stumps! Bails! Quarter Pitches!) and scores (He bowled silly mid-legs down the pitch for almost three overs before he dismissed the duck!) so highly amusing that actual cricket playing will probably make me combust with joy. Something to look forward to this weekend, I suppose.
