There is nothing in this world quite so disgusting as a lamprey covered in formaldehyde. And right before lunch.

This, however, is not why I'm posting. I'm posting because I have music I'd like to share with you internet people, but my files are of a stupidly enormous size. Does anyone know a good way to shrink existing mp3 files into something manageable? I understand loss of quality may be a factor, but I am an audiophile in only the vaguest of senses.

since mp3s are compressed files, they cant be further compressed, but you could recode them at a lower bitrate....

An experimentalist, I see.

Well you could get LAME (http://lame.sourceforge.net) and EasyLAME (http://www.mpex.net/software/details/easylame.html) and dig up the option to rencode MP3's.
