I want to like movies, a lot. I mean, the abstract idea of the movie is something that appeals to me greatly. It's just that they usually break my heart in terrible, terrible ways. And then I swear off movies for ever and ever, until the next one comes along.
The point of this being, I try to only watch movies that come highly recommended from reliable sources. And when more than one reliable source agrees on the watchability of a film, then by gum, I am THERE.
There is a movie, playing tomorrow night at the Guild called "Wilby Wonderful." It comes highly recommended by a friend-who-is-geeky-about-movies, a friend who is Canadian-and-nerdish-about-Canadian-film, the San Sebastian Film Festival (whom I love beyond all reason), and, uh, one of the people in the film (who I met on a climbing trip- go figure).
I? Will be in, of all stupid places Denver tomorrow evening, while this is showing. All of you Albuquerqueians who were looking for something to do on Friday night? You were totally warned.
