My stupid hectic week.
Oct. 30th, 2008 12:05 amI saw Obama on Saturday. Being neither Hispanic/Latina nor middle class, the speeches of the day were not targeted to me. It was an ok speech, for a man who was pretty obviously dead on his feet. (Dear Mr Obama: NAPS ARE AMAZING.)
The crowd though. The crowd was pretty freaking phenomenal- and that was exciting.
Edit: Times I say "awesome" in this post, pre-edit: Nine.

- Friday we were on our way to a free singing concert/contest on campus, when an older couple asked if we were on our way to see Bayou Seco. Bayou Seco is a Silver City band, who makes a living touring Europe three months of the year playing zydeco tunes. Jeanie taught my sister fiddle for a few years, and running into them in Albuquerque was pretty dang great. They were playing an "academic" concert for the violin building class.
I will address that in two points: First: I knew Jeanie and Ken are awesome, but I had no idea the depth of their knowledge about nerdy New Mexican music. They contributed to Folkways. (This is a very big deal in my book.)
Second: UNM has a violin building program. WANT. It's in the Communication and Journalism building, which makes sense somewhere, I'm sure. - My biochem test kicked my ass. Sweet fancy Moses, that was uncalled for.
- Secondary applications to medical school require more essays! WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? One program I am very excited about asks the question: What do you want the admissions committee to know about you?
Seriously? People, I wrote a super awesome essay on just that subject! Also: you could call me up for an interview!
I really want to answer "I want the Admissions Committee to know that I am awesome." and just leave it at that, but I suspect that way is not the way towards actual admission. - I have a rockin' Halloween costume.
