I have an excellent sense of direction. (No, don't laugh, I'm serious.) I can pick up a map, and locate where I am, where I want to go, fold up the map and go there. I can do this on a regular basis. I can do this without thinking about it. (I can even fold the map back up properly!)

Not in Cordoba, boy. Not by a long shot. I spent fully half an hour wandering around the square kilometer where I am staying with out once laying eyes on my alburgue (Note: this is not, as I have been trying to say ah-luh-bUrg-eh, it's al-bERg-eh. This is important.). I found my way back only through sheer pig-headedness, becuase of my (stupid) refusal to ask for directions.

Regardless, I have hit during the international guitar festival, which means free music everywhere. All night long if I can manage to stay up- which seeing as I have a shiny new alarm clock... oughtn't be a problem.

This is me. Sad but true, as illustrated by the following anecdote: I cut off all my hair with a pocket knife, because I was sick of waiting to find a pair of scissors. Without a mirror and in the dark, I managed to give myself a decent haircut, that (get this) someone complimented me on today.

Pictures forthcoming. When, you know, I get back in a country where I can afford to have them developed, and find someone with a scanner.

Give me a few years.

dude! i've also taken to cutting my own hair.though i do it in my room with crayola scissors-but i think it's about the same level of sophisitication.AND i also got compliments.weird eh-it makes me wonder why i've been going to hair stylists all along.my sense of direction rivals most moles.but i am hopeless at map folding. betwix we two we'd be great traveling partners.we'll have to 'do italy' next summer together.whadda ya say?

Pfft. Hair stylists are for the weak. I've known that for monnnnths.

Italy eh? This could be good, but at the moment, all I can plan for is Scotland. Everyone I meet is raving either about Scotland or Wales. (Whales. HA. er. Yah.) Then Italy. Then France. Then Japan (oh rock on, I have a house in Japan to go to! Whee!). Then trans-Canada. The world just keeps getting more interesting the more you travel.

We need to build a Gaudi house. You and me. (And Laura. And Bibi and Ko.) We shall make it large and rambling with a really huge kitchen and nooks that no one expects. It shall be brilliant, and when we move out, it shall become a small museum to our brilliance. What'dya say?

Now, see, this proves beyond shadow of doubt that you must be there. We'll hogtie you, and hold you hostage if we must.

That's what I've been calling to myself.

but what you don't know is that there is no need to keep me hostage. come this summer, i will be there- of my own free will, no less! and if things go well, i will be floucing about down there over part of christmas break. no hogties needed!

You are getting worse. Last time it was morning, with scissors. Now a pocket knife, in the dark? *sigh* Come back, and we shall even it out *cackles manically to self* Ahem.

No! None with the evening. Now we just let the chips fall where they may, and pretend that the pieces behind my ears aren't longer than the rest.

Er. Yah. I think it's odd, that no matter where I go, what I do, or which cutting instrument is used, I end up with the same hair cut.
