Oct. 13th, 2005 10:44 pmJohn Peel was a brilliant, brilliant man- so good at his job that we're still talking about him. He had a thirty year career in a field known for its turn over. Go ahead, name another radio DJ with a career nearly half as interesting! I dare you.
For those of you who didn't know, he is totally my hero. This is the man who introduced the world to both Bob Marley and Nirvana. Not to mention the Flaming Lips and Captain Beefhart.
October thirteenth is JOhn Peel day and I've been thinking in the back of my head about what I could do to help celebrate. I listened to a lot of music today- mostly stuff he popularized, a few of his broadcasts whole, and generally said a hearty thanks to the universe that people make music, and people love it.
I'm not going to be cutting edge here, because I know I do it badly, but here: music. ( It's a day to share the love, you know? )
