Feb. 23rd, 2007 10:57 pmI have come to town every week this month, and I have to come to town next weekend, but maybe the weekend after that, I get cut some slack.
I've been weirdly busy lately- observations at the clinic, putting together an evening institute in my community, tutoring sixth graders for their secondary school entrance exam, and helping my cultural organization put together an "exhibition/cultural festival." The last is my least favorite project, but it's really easy to format information, and print it out into posters for gluing to walls.
Today I had a grant committee meeting, and thusly, I'm hanging out with a bunch of whitys tonight - there was a free blues concert sponsored by the Embassy, and then we went out for really cheap Indian Food. (Oh man, palak paneer, thank all things holy for spinach and cheese!) I have a real post later- but right now, we've discovered what is possibly the funniest compound word in the English language, and that's why I'm writing. Say this with me now: sauce-bag. Say it again.
When you ask to take home your sauce, here in Jamaica, they give you a little bag with a knot in the top. None of us is quite sure why this is so hilarious, but it's brown and jiggly, and it looks kind of like a little liver, and sauce-bag is just fun to say.
I hope you're all well and good and happy. Much love folks.
